Burundi vs. Rwanda

In one year of genocide…

100,000 people died vs. 800,000 people died

The Burundi genocide can be directly compared to the genocide in Rwanda.  Both were the result of tensions between Hutus and Tutsis.  Although the results were much more catastrophic in Rwanda both should be viewed with the same solemness.  Western powers failed to intervene allowing the slaughter of innocent families, women, and children.  Within one year it is estimated that Rwanda lost almost 25% of its population in the killing.
